President Goodluck Jonathan has admitted in faraway Amsterdam in the Netherlands that he is aware of some financial impropriety in the accounting system of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He also claimed that the government led by him is doing its best to address the big mess.
President Jonathan admitted that the suspended CBN Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is right that money is missing from Nigeria's crude oil sale but he argued that the missing sum is not as much as Sanusi stated. He said about $10bn was yet to be remitted by the NNPC as stated by the Ministry of Finance.
But why has NNPC not remitted the N10bn and why was it a secret until Sanusi exposed it?
Speaking during an interactive session between him and the Nigerian community in Amsterdam, Jonathan said he has ordered a forensic audit of the corporation so that the money can be traced and recovered.
President Jonathan who further admitted that Nigeria as a country lacked the security architectures to contain the dreaded Boko Haram sect, assured that terrorist activities in the country would be dealt with effectively.
