A man in his early 30s was stoned to death on Saturday evening after killing a love rival he allegedly found in bed with his wife in Kariobangi Estate.
According to witnesses, the man had left the house at around 5.30am pretending to go to work only to come back at 8am and find another man licking his honey jar. This led to an exchange of harsh words between the two men and later on a fist fight.
Nairobi County police boss, Benson Kibue, said that at that time, the woman was watching helplessly from the bed screaming for help. During the fight, the husband grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the rival, killing him on the spot.
A crowd that had been alerted by the screams was slowly gathering. On learning what had transpired, they stormed into the house and snatched the knife from his before descending on him with blows and kicks and stoning him to death.
Police arrived at the scene and rescued the woman from the mob which was baying for her blood. The woman is in police custody waiting to appear in court after investigations are completed.
The bodies were taken to City mortuary.
