Nine Boko Haram Members Killed in deep forest in Borno




The Army in a press statement signed by its spokesman, Lt. Col Muhammad Dole said, ” in a midnight encounter with the Boko Haram terrorists, the Nigerian Army, 7 Division killed nine Boko Haram terrorists, while others fled with various degree of injuries along Rimanti-Alagarno road in Damboa local government area of Borno state on Thursday 14th November 2013″.

According to the statement, during the encounter large arms and ammunitions were recovered with the destruction of 2 pick up vehicles belonging to the terrorists, while a pick up vehicle and 3 motorcycles were equally recovered by the troops.

Lt Col. Dole revealed that, although, a soldier was wounded during the operation, but he is currently responding to treatement at University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).

The spokesman stated that the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army has intensified patrol in the deep forest of Damboa and Gwoza local government areas of Borno state, in remote and isolated villages and towns with a view to prevent incessant attacks by the insurgents.

He said the insurgents were frustrated by the attacks launched on their camps and their arms’ and vehicle destroyed, adding that the military is closing a rank on them.

Lt. Col. Dole stated that the General Officer Commanding the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Obidah Ethan commended the general public and residences in particular for their usual cooperation by giving information in exposing the hideouts and activities of the sects.
