Former Manchester United and Real Madrid player, David Beckham has been named Most stylish Man of the Year at the 15th Annual GQ Men of the Year Awards in Berlin Germany on Thursday night. Beckham’s evolving style has perhaps won him as much attention as his footballing prowess down the years.
The 38 year old most stylish athlete arrived at the city’s Komishe Oper in a smart two piece suit, stark white shirt and a pencil tie looking forever dapper. GQ editor-in-chief, José Redondo Vega says no one else has managed to bridge the gap between style and sport like the former Man United star.
“Like no other athlete, David Beckham represents style and fashion influence” said Vega, “with his trends getting sometimes daring appearances, he has created a bridge between the world of design, models and photographers and the world of world-class sports, and brought glamour back to a male sport,” He ended.
Beckham was joined at the event by Australian songstress, Kylie Minogue, who looked stunning in a flowing white gown. The singer took home, the Gentlewoman of the Year award which also coincided with her appearance on the cover of the December issue of GQ, which goes on sale on November 13.
“Kylie has managed to become the dream woman and an icon for several generations” said Jose Vaga. “She is the embodiment of a pop icon and has reinvented herself for each decade. And yet Kylie Minogue the person never disappears behind an artificial façade” He concluded.

Reports say more than 900 guests attended the annual show, with German TV personality Joko Winterscheidt making his debut as host.
